Discefa

Sustainable and non-invasive fishing

Discefa, an octopus processing company, has changed its sourcing method and now is supplied with octopus from artisanal fishing.

There are two main techniques for octopus fishing: the first one involves bottom trawlers, which are commercial fishing vessels that actively drag a trawl net through the water, posing risks of overfishing and destabilizing the seabed, damaging corals, leading to the extinction of marine species. The second one is artisanal fishing, considered sustainable and non-invasive as it does not damage the seabed and selects the species to catch.
