Our ESG Commitment

At Buenavista, we have been investing in companies and their management teams for 25 years. We firmly believe that the proper implementation and monitoring of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria lead to a Sustainability Policy that ensures value creation in our asset management companies and their portfolios. This contribution leaves a lasting legacy in society even after our exit.

Buenavista‘s main objective is to maximize the economic return for our investors, always doing so by managing funds ethically and applying demanding environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria to the portfolio. We strongly believe that our job is to create value every day for our investors and for society”

Sustainability Policy

Our solid commitment to ESG criteria is conveyed by the application of a homogeneous Sustainability Policy across our management companies and throughout the portfolio companies by our professional teams, applying best ESG practices throughout the entire investment cycle.

At Buenavista, we take a rigorous approach to socially responsible investing. From the pre-investment stage in a company and during the period it remains in the portfolio under our supervision and management, we have the clear purpose of generating value, beyond the economic aspect, for society.

2023 Agenda

Since 2016, Buenavista has been a signatory to the six Principles for Responsible Investment of the United Nations (UNPRI) and committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda.

The Principles for Responsible Investment aim to foster a more sustainable and responsible investment, where not only financial performance is considered, but also the social and environmental impact of investments. By adhering to these principles, Buenavista commits to:

  1. Incorporating ESG considerations into investment analysis: Signatories of PRI commit to considering environmental, social, and governance factors in the investment decision-making process.
  2. Being active owners and participating in decision-making: Signatories commit to exercising their voting rights and actively partaking in the governance affairs of the portfolio companies.
  3. Seeking appropriate disclosure of ESG information: Signatories urge companies they invest in to disclose relevant information on environmental, social, and governance issues.
  4. Promoting the acceptance and implementation of the Principles for Responsible Investment: Signatories commit to expanding the reach and adherence to PRI within the investor community.
  5. Collaborating to increase the impact on responsible investment: Signatories seek to collaborate with other investors and stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of their responsible investment practices.
  6. Reporting on activities and progress in implementing the Principles: Signatories commit to providing regular reports on their activities related to the Principles and progress made in implementing responsible investment.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are targets set by the United Nations to address global challenges such as poverty, climate change, inequality, and environmental degradation. By analysing the contribution of companies in our portfolio to the SDGs, we can measure their impact and make informed decisions to promote sustainable development in our investments

ASG Governance

The Group has a governance structure that seeks to ensure the integration of ESG criteria at all levels of the organization.

Having exemplary corporate governance and a clear chain of responsibilities is essential to ensure the proper integration of ESG into our operations and the successful and efficient implementation of our sustainability strategy. For this reason, Buenavista has established a Delegated Committee of its own Management Board, comprised of its main executives, with the mission of setting sustainability goals, regulations, and accountability at all levels of its central structure, as well as in its asset management companies and portfolio companies.

Gradually, this approach has become a management model within each asset in our management companies and portfolio companies, contributing to maximising fund returns for our investors and improving the business environment where we operate.
