At Buenavista Equity Partners, we have created a list of key performance indicators to demonstrate our ESG transformation, as well as to benchmark our ESG progress across our three divisions.

ESG integration indicators

We analyze the measures we carry out during the investment process with indicators that we have developed internally to assess ESG integration before the investment period and during the investment period. Buenavista is studying how to calculate the added value that ESG actions have meant for the company at the time of exit.

Key performance indicators

We measure key performance indicators and the progress of our portfolio companies across our three business units, while remaining mindful of the differences that exist between them.

In our Private Equity business, we hold majority stakes, which has enabled us to make decisions and advance ESG-related initiatives more nimbly. Our goal is to gauge the effectiveness of our mission: to inspire others and raise awareness about the importance of conducting sound business practices that focus on these critical issues.

To conduct this analysis, we evaluate the measures taken during and after the investment period to assess the integration of ESG factors. We monitor information provided by our portfolio companies across the areas of corporate governance, social impact, and environmental performance. The key indicators we track—which may expand or vary depending on the specific asset class or sector—are as follows:

The existence of independent directors, a code of ethics/ethics policy, an anti-money laundering and anti-corruption policy, and compliance systems

01. Corporate governance

Equal opportunity plans, talent attraction and retention, data protection measures, occupational risk management plan, corporate volunteering initiatives, and actions concerning the surrounding environment

02. Social

Control of waste and consumption, existence of environmental policies and certificates, measurement of the carbon footprint

03. Environment

At Buenavista, we have been investing in companies and their management teams for 30 years. We firmly believe that the proper implementation and monitoring of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria lead to a sustainability policy that ensures value creation within our asset management firms and their portfolios. This contribution leaves a lasting legacy in society, even after our exit.
